Snowy Range Ranch, nestled in the heart of the Little Laramie Valley, just 22 miles west of Laramie, Wyoming, is steeped in western history laced with a tradition of fine horses. The first horses in Wyoming enabled native tribes the power to hunt successfully. The next generation of horses helped transform a continent, giving their riders the strength to explore a new frontier. Snowy Range Ranch is proud to be part of the new frontier. When the Ranch was settled in the 1870s, the owners had a rich cache of brood mares, geldings and stallions in an effort to create a dynasty of fine horses. With the introduction of the automobile, the prominent horse operations of the Little Laramie River Valley faded and ranchers turned their energies to raising cattle. The quarter horse was eventually popularized on western ranches and became the backbone of the working cattle ranch. Today, it is again the backbone of Snowy Range Ranch. |
